Blending silo

 

Silo blender- or silo mixer is a system that performs two process engineering tasks simultaneously. The storage of powdered solids and their ‘homogenisation’.

In addition to bulk containers, sacks or big bags, silos are also used for storing large quantities. The required quantity of bulk material can be removed from these by opening and closing the valve on the funnel-shaped opening. Silos are very interesting when it comes to automatic bulk material logistics. The bulk material flows by gravity.

So-called silo mixers or mixing silos have statically or dynamically moving mixing tools. These mix parts of the silo. The mixing efficiency of a mixing silo depends on the flowability of the powder. Material exchange only takes place where the mixing tool is located. The remaining areas remain largely unmixed. The achievable mixing qualities are generally not good. Furthermore, the mixing qualities cannot be reliably reproduced. Minor changes in flow behaviour lead to different mixing results. Flow properties change with different moisture levels, different grain size distributions, different bulk densities, different filling heights, long storage times, etc.

amixon® manufactures the Gyraton® mixing silo. The Gyraton® can store large quantities of bulk materials (up to 100 m³) and mix them with high precision. In addition, it can also reliably discharge poorly flowing bulk materials.

It combines the function of a silo with that of a precision mixer. Gyraton®mixers work independently of the material properties: dry, moist, free-flowing, poorly flowing, different bulk densities, different grain sizes, ......
